Stealth Mode , commonly referred to as C-Mode was created by Craig, the author of Y!MLite - a third party Yahoo client. Without his contributions (indirect or otherwise) to the creation of this feature Stealth Mode would not be possible and several third party applications including Y!TunnelPro would still susceptible to many forms of booting. Much kudos goes to Craig for his excellent work relating to Stealth/C-Mode .

Stealth mode provides the highest protection possible against boot attacks intended to knock you offline. This level of protection comes with some limitations however. When Stealth mode is enabled, you will not be able to receive communications from other users. This includes private messages, most invitations, and sharing of plugins and files. Although these features will not be available, you can still enter a chatroom and interact with all participants, view webcams, allow others to view your webcam, and connect to voice chat.

Enabling Stealth Mode

  • Sign out of Yahoo! Messenger (Messenger -> Sign Out)
  • In the Y!Tunnel Pro Protection & Security Menu, click on “Enable Stealth Mode
  • Click whether or not you want Stealth mode engaged when you either log onto messenger, or enter a chatroom, or when a boot attempt is detected (option not available at this time).
  • You may also check “Allow Stealth Mode to be Disengaged”. However, this mode is experimental, and may cause Messenger to crash or disconnect.
  • Sign Into Yahoo! Messenger
