The Options section under General Preferences provides access to basic options such as automatically launching Y!TunnelPro at startup, displaying the splash screen, and enabling the alert bar.
![]() Launch Y!TunnelPro at startup
When this option is enabled Y!TunnelPro will be automatically launched when Windows starts up.
Launch Yahoo! Messenger when Y!TunnelPro starts.
This feature allows Yahoo! Messenger to be automatically launched when Y!TunnelPro starts.
Show splash screen at startup
When this option is enabled the Y!TunnelPro splash screen will be displayed each time Y!TunnelPro starts. The splash screen displays the current version number along with the current build number of Y!TunnelPro.
Enable the Y!TunnelPro alert bar.
The alert bar is used by Y!Tunnel to display notifications of certain events as they happen. These events include connecting to the Yahoo! Messenger servers, blocking private messages, and other notifications supplied by Yahoo!. When the alert bar is enabled alerts will appear at the top of the screen with a dark yellow background and looks like the following.
![]() After the alert is displayed it will remain at the top of the screen for 4 to 6 seconds and will automatically disappear.
On both Windows 2000 and WindowsXP the alert bar will fade from the screen.
Enable Activity Logger
The Y!TunnelPro activity logger displays information about recent activity such as chat room and instant messages that have been blocked, users that have been ignored, and invitations which have been rejected. When enabled the activity logger will be displayed and will look like the following:
Enable Extended Smileys
Y!TunnelPro includes several all new emoticons (Smileys) that can be used in chat rooms, instant messages, and conferences. These new emoticons do not replace any of the existing ones included with Yahoo! Messenger but instead are brand new additions.
See this article for a list of new emoticons added by Y!TunnelPro. Disable Advertisements
Because the advertisements displayed in the chatroom window require a significant amount of screen space this feature allows users to disable them. Even though the advertisements should not be visible when this option is enabled newer versions of Yahoo! Messenger may be incompatible with this feature.
Enable Auto Update
Using an exisitng internet connection, auto update will connect to the Y!TunnelPro server to check for available updates and automatically downloads and installs them. This is the most efficient method for ensuring that all files are up to date. |
